Dr. Linda Warren will present at The Ounce of Prevention’s 2012 Head Start Pre-Service Conference on Promoting School Readiness: Engaging Families and Communities. The Ounce’s 2012 Head Start Pre-Service Conference, to be held at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago on August 24th, 2012, is an exciting professional development opportunity for 450 teachers, family support workers, administrative and management staff throughout Chicago and suburban Cook County who work in Head Start and Early Head Start. Dr. Warren’s presentation, entitled For Grandparents Only, will feature an interactive curriculum linked to the Head Start Child Outcome Framework that helps grandparents build positive relationships with their grandchildren, build knowledge of age appropriate expectations for children ages birth to five years, and strengthen skills to support children’s language, literacy, social competency, physical development and creative expression. The session will also present ideas for expanding grandparents’ access to needed resources and networking.
